      "Pope" Cabinet

This cabinet takes its name from the family for whom the original was made, in Salem circa 1680. I did several copies in 2001 of this small cabinet, and then finally made one for my wife. The door opens to reveal ten small drawers inside.  The hinges and lock were made by the blacksmiths at Plimoth Plantation.  The finish is based on research done from the originals; and consists of iron oxide and lampblack pigments mixed in linseed oil and turpentine. A clear varnish then covers the entire surface.
